About Lonestar 24 HR ER
Lonestar 24 HR ER is comprised of 10 board certified physicians who are experts in emergency medicine. Our physicians have extensive backgrounds in running and directing various emergency departments in hospitals around the country. Our facility is equipped to handle a wide range of medical emergencies.

Meet Our Doctors
Dr. Nurok
MD, ACLS, ATLS, BLS, PALS, ABEM
Dr. Nurok is a residency trained physician and is certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine. A graduate of Indiana University School of Medicine where he also received a medical doctorate as well as a master’s degree in Physiology. Dr. Nurok then completed his residency at New York Methodist Hospital in affiliation with Weill Cornell University.
Upon completion of his residency, Dr. Nurok joined the Tripler Army Medical Center and the Hilo Medical Center, both high volume, high acuity emergency departments. Dr. Nurok has also practiced at Kahuku Medical Center, an austere emergency department in rural Hawaii. Dr. Nurok later served as the emergency department director at Gifford Medical Center in Vermont. He has performed research on skeletal muscle contraction and pediatric endocrine related issues, as well as having been published in the Journal of Medical Toxicology.
Dr. Nurok is excited to share his adult and pediatric emergency medicine experience with the New Braunfels community.
Dr. Easley
MD, ABEM, ACLS, PALS
Certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine, Dr. Easley is a residency trained physician. Attending the Indiana University School of Medicine Dr. Easley earned a medical doctorate. From there, he completed his residency at New York Methodist Hospital in affiliation with Weill Cornell University. He was the intern of the year and later was also made chief resident at this prestigious hospital.
Upon completion of his residency, Dr. Easley joined the Berkeley Emergency Medical Group at the Alta Bates Summit Medical Center in Berkeley and Oakland, California. He has since also been a senior emergency physician; serving on various boards and peer review committees.
Throughout his career, Dr. Easley has made it a priority to advocate for patients and provide medical service to the less fortunate. Dr. Easley is happy to bring this level of compassionate care to the New Braunfels community.
Dr. Bhatt
MD, ACLS, ATLS, PALS, ABEM
Dr. Bhatt is a residency-trained emergency physician, certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine. After graduating from medical school in 2004 with membership in the Alpha Omega Alpha national medical school honor society, Dr. Bhatt completed his residency at New York Methodist Hospital in affiliation with Weill Cornell University.
Upon completion of his residency, Dr. Bhatt has worked in large, busy emergency departments of hospitals in Louisville, Kentucky and Tampa, Florida. He is currently a senior emergency physician in three emergency departments of the Florida hospital system in the Tampa Bay area.
With a focus in his area of academic study and practice on musculoskeletal injuries, pediatric emergencies, and asthma treatment, Dr. Bhatt offers a deep level of experience in all aspects of emergency care and is excited to bring his expertise to the New Braunfels community.
Dr. Belay
MD, ABEM
Dr. Belay is a residency trained physician, certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine. Dr. Belay attended Ohio State University College of Medicine where he received his medical doctorate. From there, Dr. Belay completed his residency at New York Methodist Hospital in affiliation with Weill Cornell University.
Upon completion of his residency, Dr. Belay joined the emergency department of Potomac Hospital in Virginia. He has since also been a senior emergency physician at Memorial Hermann in Houston and the Memorial Emergency Center.

Dr. Belay is excited to share his experience and knowledge with the people of New Braunfels.
Dr. Shaikh
MD, ABEM, ATLS, ACLS, PALS
Dr. Ahmed Shaikh is a residency trained physician, certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine. Dr. Shaikh has been a practicing physician for 15 years. After graduating from Rice University with honors, Dr. Shaikh went on to complete his residency in emergency medicine at Cornell University.
Dr. Shaikh has volunteered as a physician in crisis zones in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. He is looking forward to bringing his expertise and passion for emergency medicine to the New Braunfels community.
Dr. Ortiz
MD, FACEP, FAAEM, ACLS, PALS, ATLS
Dr. Ortiz is a residency trained physician, certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine. Dr. Ortiz grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana and then received his undergraduate education at Texas A&M University. He went on to receive his medical doctorate from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. From there, he attended the Denver Health Residency in Emergency Medicine, where he learned the art of emergency medical care.
Upon completion of his residency, Dr. Ortiz moved to Pueblo, Colorado and joined Southern Colorado Emergency Medical Associates. He served the last three years as president of the group and as the chair of the emergency department. Dr. Ortiz assisted in the development of sepsis alert protocols, as well as coagulation alert protocols for the emergency department.
Dr. Ortiz is thankful to return to the great state of Texas and use his training and experience to provide excellent and personalized emergency medical care to the people of New Braunfels and the surrounding communities.
