Dr. Ortiz is a residency trained, Board Certified emergency physician who is excited to be back in Texas. He grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana and then received his undergraduate education at Texas A&M University. He went on to the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio where he received his Medical Doctorate. From there, he attended the Denver Health Residency in Emergency Medicine, where he learned the art of emergency medical care.
Upon completion of his residency, Dr. Ortiz moved to Pueblo, Colorado and joined Southern Colorado Emergency Medical Associates. He served the last three years as President of the group and as the Chair of the Emergency Department which is a level 2 trauma center, a stroke center, chest pain center, and a heart attack receiving center. He assisted in the development of sepsis alert protocols as well as coagulation alert protocols for the emergency department.
Dr. Ortiz is thankful to return to the great state of Texas and use his training and experience to provide excellent and personalized emergency medical care to the people of New Braunfels and the surrounding communities.
